Pelmorex Corp. (our, us or we) operates the television channels The Weather Network and MeteoMedia and related services and applications (collectively the "Services").
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") applies specifically to the IPTV channel Services provided by us under the brands The Weather Network and MeteoMedia and describes how we may collect, use and disclose personal information in relation to the Services, which you consent to by accessing the Services. "Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual but does not include business information.
The only information collected by the Service is your postal code. It is collected in order to provide you with localized weather reports and may be used to provide advertising (where permitted) that is geographically targeted; for example a local car dealership may be interested in advertising to all households using the Service within a certain geographic radius from the dealership. Due to the nature of localized weather reports, we are unable to offer the Services without a postal code. If a postal code is not available the IP address will be collected and converted into the postal code associated with that IP address.
There are on average 20 houses per postal code so this does not provide us with a specific home address, nor on its own does it constitute Personal Information. But the postal code does provide us with enough information about what area you are viewing the Services from so that we can ensure that the weather reports you receive are relevant to where you are located.
We do not store the postal codes we collect. Instead it is stored on the set top box.
